Septic and Drains

Septic Failure

Warning signs of septic failure

Slow running drains and toilets are often a sign of septic problems. In worse case scenarios, sewage may back up into basements. This may happen because of plugs in the inlet or outlet pipes, sewer lines to the tank, a failed drain field, or the septic tank’s being full. Any septic odors in the home, or near the tank field, are an early warning that the system is failing.

Groundwater can become fouled, even when the system appears to be working properly, if you have not had your septic tank pumped in the last 5 years. This may cause the drain field to become clogged.

If you notice any of these signs, be sure to call a professional before serious problems develop.
